# AEON Overview

Standing on the shoulders of the assets and technologies that came before, including [TORUS](https://www.torus.win/) and [UNITY](https://www.unity.win/) - the first live instantiations of a [Productive Hard Money](https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=6685458), AEON is the harmony of the natural balance that exists everywhere in the universe, with decentralized technologies that cannot be stopped. AEON is the alternative future of safety, prosperity, collaboration, and harmony that could not exist with the use of our current systems in place. It is not a replacement, but a choice and a divergence from a path many wish to avoid into a future of abundance.

AEON is built not for 100, 1000, or 10,000 years, but to operate into the millions of years ahead. It is designed for an initial 16.4 years of supply distribution, followed by a pace that scales for millions and billions of years, by design. AEON cannot be changed, altered or tampered with regardless of capital expenditure, governments, or force. It is a force to be reckoned with. 

**So what is AEON?**

AEON is designed to be money - a Store of Value, medium of exchange, and unit of account - but with a 4th property that has evaded all previous monetary assets before it. AEON carries the ability to earn more AEON within its own system, not by the work of anyone else or labor as a service, but by its own intrinsic nature and design internally. Imagine how valuable Gold or Bitcoin would be if the asset itself was required in the process of obtaining more of itself. Now, create a system that naturally pushes incentives and the use of its own system back into balance and stability whenever it deviates from its balance point. This is AEON.\
